The Transformation of 1950s Korean Architecture and Urban Environment Examined Through Materials and Techniques

본 연구는 한국근대건축사연구의 빈 칸이라 할 수 있는 “1950년대” 한국의 건축을 “재료”와 “기술”의 측면에서 고찰하고자 한다. 특히 해방 및 한국전쟁 이후 혼란기에서 전재복구가 우선되었던 상황에서 일본의 영향과 미국의 영향이 혼재되어 나타난 건축 및 도시환경의 양상에 대해 “재료”와 “기술”을 중심으로 분석해보고자 한다.

This study aims to examine the architecture of Korea in the 1950s, a period often overlooked in the context of modern Korean architectural history.  It will focus on the perspectives of "materials" and "techniques". Specifically, the study seeks to analyze the characteristics of architecture and urban environments that emerged as a blend of Japanese and American influences in the post-war period, with a particular emphasis on materials and techniques.
