문경 舊쌍용양회 시멘트공장의 우수건축자산 등록 지원을 위한 가치조사 및 등록 범위 설정을 위한 연구로, 건축공간연구원의 위탁용역으로 수행 중이다. 

한국전쟁 이후 운크라의 지원으로 만들어진 문경 구 쌍용양회 시멘트공장은 2018년 폐쇄될 떄까지 시멘트공장으로서 한국의 재건과 산업 발전에 이바지해 온 산업시설이다. 2018년 공장 가동이 중단된 이후 경상북도는 시멘트공장을 경상북도 산업유산으로 지정하고, 시멘트공장의 활용을 전제로 한 도시재생사업을 추진해왔다. 본 연구는 구 쌍용양회 시멘트공장의 시설들에 대한 가치를 판단하고 이를 바탕으로 우수건축자산 등록을 지원함으로써 구 쌍용양회 시멘트공장의 유산화과정에 일조하고자 한다.

This research, commissioned by the Architecture & Urban Research Institute, aims to assess the value of the former Ssangyong Cement Factory in Mungyeong and to define the appropriate scope for its registration as an Excellent Architectural Asset.

Built with support from UNKRA after the Korean War, the Mungyeong Ssangyong Cement Factory functioned as a key industrial facility that contributed to Korea’s postwar reconstruction and industrial development until its closure in 2018. Following the cessation of operations, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province designated the factory as a provincial industrial heritage site and has since promoted urban regeneration projects based on its adaptive reuse. This research seeks to contribute to the heritagization process of the former factory by evaluating the historical and architectural significance of its remaining structures and supporting their registration as Excellent Architectural Assets.
